JLPTMatome just turned 1 year old π
Hey, itβs Louis π.
JLPTMatome just reached its first birthday! One year ago, the goal was simple: create a modern, motivating, and useful platform for JLPT learners.
Since then, thousands of learners have joined, practiced with JLPT-style simulations, reviewed lessons, used flashcard drills, received Study Letters, and helped shape the platform with their feedback.
One year of building for JLPT learners
This first year was full of experiments, late nights, redesigns, bugs, fixes, and new ideas. But most importantly, it confirmed something important: many learners want more than static study content. They want tools that help them stay consistent, remember better, and feel more confident before the real JLPT.
What we built so far
Over the past year, JLPTMatome grew into an all-in-one platform with resources and tools for every JLPT level, from N5 to N1.
- Kanji, vocabulary, and grammar lessons
- Flashcard drills to review and memorize more effectively
- JLPT-style simulations with realistic question formats
- Personalized Study Letters
- Study points, rankings, and daily challenges
- Account features to save favorites and review past mistakes
Whatβs coming next
The next chapter of JLPTMatome is already in progress, and it is going to be a big one.
First, we are moving to Japan to establish the company there and continue building JLPTMatome closer to the learners, schools, companies, and partners connected to Japanese language education. A dedicated article will be released once this step is complete, with more details about the process and what it means for the future of the platform.
We are also actively working on the JLPTMatome mobile app, with the goal of making studying even smoother, faster, and easier to integrate into your daily routine.
Another major focus will be community features. This has been one of the biggest requests from members: a way for learners to interact, communicate, support each other, and feel less alone during their JLPT journey. Once most of the details are ready, we will also publish a dedicated article about these upcoming community features.

Things are extremely busy behind the scenes right now.
Between preparations for whatβs coming next, development of the mobile app, upcoming community systems, content production, and handling the platform itself, most days have honestly become non-stop work from morning to night.
Because of this and also due to the company incorporation process in Japan currently happening in parallel, replies to your support tickets can sometimes take longer than usual. I truly apologize if you do not receive a response quickly to your ticket or message. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding while all these next big steps are being prepared π
