1. Introduction & Acceptance

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of JLPTMatome, a platform designed to help learners study Japanese and prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). By accessing or using JLPTMatome, you accept and agree to these Terms in full. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our website.

2. Definitions

• "JLPTMatome," "We," "Us," or "Our" refers to NARUHODO, company based in France.
• "User," "You," or "Your" refers to anyone who registers or interacts with JLPTMatome.
• "Content" includes all learning materials provided by JLPTMatome.
• "JLPTMatome Plus" refers to our paid subscription service.

3. Account Registration & User Responsibilities

To register, you must provide an email address, username, password (except when using Google Sign-In), and your current JLPT level. You may also opt-in to receive our study-letter newsletter. You are responsible for keeping your account details secure. Usernames must be appropriate, as they are publicly visible. JLPTMatome reserves the right to terminate accounts that breach these guidelines.

4. JLPTMatome & JLPTMatome Plus Services

Creating an account grants you free access to certain features like favorite lists, weekly rankings, and optional study letters. To access premium features such as customizable study letters, unlimited flashcard drills, daily challenges, and unlimited JLPT exam simulations, you must subscribe to JLPTMatome Plus.

5. Subscription, Payments & Cancellation

The JLPTMatome Plus subscription can be monthly or yearly. The monthly subscription auto-renews each month unless canceled via your account settings ("My Plan"). If canceled, you will continue to enjoy premium features until the current billing period ends. Refunds are not provided upon cancellation.

6. User Conduct & Prohibited Activities

Users agree not to engage in illegal activities, misuse the platform's technology, attempt unauthorized access or content theft, cause harm to other users, or choose inappropriate usernames. Violation of these terms will result in account termination.

7. Intellectual Property & Use of Content

All content on JLPTMatome, including kanji, grammar, vocabulary resources, flashcard drills, and JLPT simulations, is proprietary or licensed to us. Users are prohibited from reselling, copying, or redistributing any content without explicit permission from JLPTMatome.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

JLPTMatome is an educational resource and is not affiliated with the Japan Foundation or any official JLPT-organizing body. We do not issue certifications and cannot guarantee your success in the official JLPT exam. Users are encouraged to use JLPTMatome alongside other educational materials. We are not liable for direct or indirect damages, including but not limited to failure in official examinations.

Due to the volume of content, inaccuracies or technical issues may occasionally occur. Please report these via our contact page.

9. Public User Profiles

Each user has a public profile displaying their username, avatar, JLPT level, study points, and study performance. Email addresses remain confidential and are not publicly displayed.

10. Privacy & Data Protection

We collect and process personal data according to our Privacy Policy, in compliance with GDPR and applicable international laws. Please consult our Privacy Policy for detailed information.

11. Account Deletion

If you wish to delete your account permanently, contact us via our contact page. Deleted accounts cannot be recovered.

12. Modifications to Terms & Conditions

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions periodically. You will be notified of significant changes through email or announcements on our website. Continued use after such changes implies acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent French courts.
