Matom'Arena is a seasonal Japanese competition where you play against another player.
The featured game can change each season. Play separate turns, compare scores, and earn Arena Points to climb the Season Ranking.
A season lasts three months.
When a new season begins, your Arena Points and ranking reset so everyone starts fresh.
The featured game and some rules may also change.
Season Ranking orders players by Arena Points. First place is Grandmaster, second is Master, and third is Diamond.

Tap PLAY to start a battle. An opponent will be found for you.
Complete your turn before the timer ends. Your battle score is then saved and added to your Arena Points.
Your opponent has up to 24 hours to play. After your opponent's turn is complete, the result bonus or malus is calculated and applied to your Arena Points.
You have 60 seconds to build as many correct Japanese phrases as possible.
Each correct phrase adds its displayed Arena Points and fills one Boost step. Reaching steps 2, 4, and 6 raises your multiplier to x2, x4, and x6.
A mistake removes one Boost step and can lower your multiplier. Passing has no effect.
When time runs out, the Arena Points accumulated during your turn are multiplied by your active Boost multiplier. The boosted total is then added to your overall Arena Points.
Yes.
A correct medium phrase adds 10 seconds. A correct difficult or extra-difficult phrase adds 20 seconds.
Easy phrases still add Arena Points and Boost progress, but no time.
Once both players finish their turns, the winner receives a bonus and the losing player receives a malus.
The base amounts are +15 Arena Points for the winner and -15 Arena Points for the losing player.
The gap between both players' scores determines how many extra Arena Points are added to the bonus and malus, as shown below.
| SCORE GAP | EXTRA | TOTAL (+ OR -) |
|---|---|---|
| 0 ~ 20 | +5 | 20 |
| 21 ~ 50 | +10 | 25 |
| 51 ~ 100 | +15 | 30 |
| 101 ~ 150 | +20 | 35 |
| 151+ | +25 | 40 |
If a player does not play within 24 hours, the player who completed the turn receives a bonus of +40 Arena Points. The player who did not play receives a malus of 5 Arena Points.
If a player starts a turn but leaves before the battle ends, the other player receives a bonus of +40 Arena Points. The player who left receives a malus of 40 Arena Points.
Waiting for opponent means the opponent's turn is not finished.
New result means the outcome is ready to reveal.
Victory or Defeat means the result is open and both scores are visible.
