What it means
いかに expresses “how,” “in what way,” or “to what extent.” It is used to ask about a method with いかにして, and it is also used before a verb or adjective in an embedded or rhetorical question to emphasize the manner or degree of an action or quality. Compared with どう, いかに is markedly formal and is common in written, academic, public, and rhetorical language.
Usage note
いかに is not normally used in casual everyday conversation; どう or どのように is usually more natural there. The pattern いかにして focuses on the method, while いかに〜か often emphasizes the degree or manner of something.
