What it means
くらいのものだ expresses that something is virtually the only person, thing, or possible action that fits a situation. It highlights a sharply limited range and often corresponds to “the only ...,” “about the only ...,” or “all one can do is ...” in English. It commonly follows a noun or a verb in the dictionary form and is used when the speaker views the stated option as the sole realistic possibility.
Usage note
くらいのものだ is more restrictive and emphatic than a simple statement with だけ. With nouns, it usually means “about the only ...,” so it can allow a small degree of approximation rather than asserting absolute uniqueness. The polite counterpart is くらいのものです.
How to use it
この町で夜まで開いている店は、駅前のコンビニくらいのものです。
The only store in this town that stays open until night is the convenience store in front of the station.
今の私にできるのは、結果を静かに受け入れるくらいのものです。
The only thing I can do now is quietly accept the result.
