What it means
なり〜なり presents two or more representative choices, meaning “either A or B” or “things such as A and B.” With nouns, it lists possible items or actions; with dictionary-form verbs, it suggests possible steps or alternatives. The options are usually examples rather than an exhaustive list, and the construction often carries a somewhat formal, written, or instructive tone.
Usage note
なり〜なり is more formal than ordinary alternatives such as か〜か or や〜など. It should not be confused with なり meaning “as soon as” or with the copular なり.
