What it means
のみか expresses “not only A but also B.” It presents the first item as an additional point and then adds a second, often more significant or unexpected, item. It is a formal written construction commonly used in academic, explanatory, and official prose. It can attach to nouns, plain-form verbs, い-adjectives, and な-adjectives in the form であるのみか. The second part is commonly marked with も, though expressions such as まで can also emphasize the addition.
Usage note
のみか is most common in formal expository or written language. In ordinary conversation, だけでなく is usually more natural.
