What it means
それなりに modifies a predicate to mean that something is done or is the case to a reasonable extent, in a manner appropriate to the circumstances, or as well as can be expected. It often presents a qualified positive evaluation: the result is acceptable or has some merit, although it may not be outstanding. It is placed before verbs and adjectives, and the predicate determines the tense and politeness.
Usage note
それなりに should not automatically be translated as “in his or her own way.” That meaning is more specifically expressed by 彼なりに or 彼女なりに. With それなりに, the usual implication is “to a reasonable extent” or “as circumstances allow.” The related form それなりの modifies a noun and is a different construction.
