What it means
おまけに means “on top of that” or “what’s more.” It adds another point that strengthens or extends the previous statement, usually in the same positive or negative direction. It commonly connects two complete clauses and often appears at the beginning of the added clause. The expression itself does not change for familiar and polite speech; the surrounding clause endings show the register.
Usage note
おまけに is more emphatic than a neutral additive such as “also” because the added information makes the overall situation noticeably better or worse. It is usually used when the two points share a clear evaluative direction, rather than simply listing unrelated facts.
