What it means
というふうに describes the manner, appearance, or pattern in which an action is performed. It often follows a plain clause and means “in such a way that” or “as if,” presenting the preceding situation as a model or impression for the following action.
Usage note
というふうに is normally used before a following action or description. It is not itself a politeness marker, so the surrounding predicate must be changed to make the sentence familiar or polite.
