What it means
ずに済む means that someone can avoid doing something and still manage without negative consequences or difficulty. It is formed by attaching ずに to the negative stem of a verb, followed by 済む. The construction often expresses relief that an action was unnecessary, or that a situation can be handled without taking a particular action. The polite counterpart is ずに済みます.
Usage note
ずに済む is somewhat more formal than ないで済む, although it is also natural in ordinary speech. With する, the form is せずに済む rather than しずに済む.
