What it means
とすると presents a supposition as a premise and considers the consequence that follows from it. It is used for reasoning, evaluation, or drawing a conclusion from an assumed fact, with meanings such as “assuming that” and “if we consider.” The assumed clause normally uses the plain form; nouns and na-adjectives are followed by だとすると.
Usage note
とすると is relatively formal and is common in written explanations, discussions, and logical arguments. Do not confuse it with とき, which simply indicates time; とすると emphasizes an assumption and its consequence.
