What it means
もしかしたら means “perhaps” or “maybe” and presents the following information as uncertain. It usually appears at the beginning of a sentence or clause and is very often used with かもしれない or かもしれません. The speaker is suggesting a possibility rather than making a confident prediction. The expression itself is not a politeness marker, so the rest of the sentence determines the register.
Usage note
もしかしたら is often used together with かもしれない or かもしれません, but these expressions are not interchangeable: もしかしたら introduces the possibility, while かもしれない or かもしれません marks the uncertain judgment. It can also occur with other expressions such as でしょう when the context supports that combination.
