What it means
にかわって means “instead of” or “on behalf of.” It is mainly used after a person, group, or organization to show that someone acts as a substitute or representative. When it means “on behalf of,” the person or organization named before it is the one being represented, not the person performing the action.
Usage note
にかわって is commonly written に代わって. It is different from 代わりに, which has broader uses, including replacing an action or offering one thing in exchange for another.
