What it means
てもしょうがない expresses that doing something or being in a certain state will not help, change the outcome, or serve any useful purpose. It often conveys resignation, frustration, or the idea that further effort is pointless. It attaches to a verb in the て-form, an i-adjective in its く-form, or a noun or na-adjective with でも. The familiar ending is しょうがない, while the polite counterpart is しょうがありません.
Usage note
しょうがない is a common conversational contraction of 仕方がない. The expression can sound resigned or dismissive, so it is not always suitable when a more neutral or encouraging tone is needed.
