What it means
結果 expresses a result or consequence. In the pattern verb past form + 結果, it means “as a result of doing” or “after something happened,” and it often introduces an outcome that became clear after an action, process, or investigation. In the pattern noun + の結果, it means “the result of” or “as a result of” that noun. It is commonly used in written and neutral explanatory language, especially when describing a clear connection between a cause and an outcome.
Usage note
結果 should not be confused with 結果的に, which means “ultimately” or “as a result” and functions as an adverb. When 結果 introduces a consequence at the beginning of a sentence, その結果 is also a common form.
