What it means
にしても expresses a concessive condition: even if something is true or happens, the result in the main clause still applies. It can also describe an unexpected situation that is accepted as a premise, similar to “even though.” With verbs and i-adjectives, it follows the plain form. With nouns and na-adjectives, であるにしても is a common more formal pattern. The expression itself does not change for politeness; the main clause can use either a familiar or polite ending.
Usage note
にしても can also mean “even so” or “that said” when it begins a new sentence or follows a quoted statement. Do not confuse this use with the concessive pattern attached directly to a word or clause.
