What it means
に見える expresses a speaker’s visual impression that something looks like a certain thing or appears to have a certain quality. It is used when the appearance suggests an identity or condition, rather than stating that it is definitely true. With a noun, it means “looks like” that noun. With a na-adjective, it means “looks” or “appears” to have that quality. The polite counterpart is に見えます.
Usage note
に見える directly follows a noun or a na-adjective stem. Verbs generally use ように見える, while i-adjectives generally change to their く form before 見える, as in おいしく見える.
