What it means
なら presents a condition based on a topic or assumption, often meaning “if that is the case” or “in the case of.” It attaches directly to nouns and な-adjectives, and it follows the plain form of verbs and い-adjectives. The result clause may be familiar or polite, so なら itself does not need to change when the overall sentence becomes polite.
Usage note
なら can also mark a topic or contrast, so its exact meaning depends on context; these uses are related rather than completely separate functions. でしたら and のでしたら should not be treated as simple polite replacements for なら, because they also add the explanatory or polite nuance of です and のです.
