What it means
後で means “later” or “after.” It is used by itself to refer to a later time, or after a noun or a verb in the past form to show that something happens afterward. With a verb, it normally follows the た-form, as in “after doing something.” The following action can be in the present, future, or past depending on the context.
Usage note
後で can mean either “later” or “after,” so the preceding words determine the meaning. Do not confuse it with 前に, which means “before”; when 前に follows a verb, the verb normally uses the dictionary form.
