What it means
の至り expresses the highest or most extreme degree of an abstract quality or state. It is attached mainly to nouns and is used in highly formal, often literary or ceremonial language. Depending on the noun, it can convey sincere praise or honor, as in 光栄の至り, or strong self-reproach, as in 若気の至り.
Usage note
の至り is not a productive choice for ordinary everyday descriptions. It commonly appears in established combinations and formal statements, and it can sound excessively grand in casual contexts.
