What it means
としたって presents a condition as a concession: even if the stated situation is accepted as true, the result or judgment in the main clause still holds. It often conveys a hypothetical assumption such as “even assuming that...” and can suggest that the premise does not change the speaker’s conclusion. It follows a plain verb or an i-adjective directly; noun and na-adjective predicates normally use だ before としたって.
Usage note
としたって is relatively conversational and is less suitable for highly formal writing. It is not intrinsically polite; politeness comes from the surrounding sentence, so としても is often preferred in formal contexts.
