What it means
次第 has two common N2 uses. After a noun, noun + 次第だ or noun + 次第で means that the result or situation depends on that noun. After a verb masu-stem, verb masu-stem + 次第 means “as soon as” the action is completed. This form is relatively formal and is common in written announcements, business communication, and organized speech.
Usage note
Do not confuse noun + 次第だ or noun + 次第で with the time expression verb masu-stem + 次第. The noun patterns express dependence, while the verb pattern expresses an immediate sequence. With a noun, the ending may also be followed by particles such as で according to the sentence structure.
