What it means
おかげで expresses a favorable cause or beneficial result: “thanks to” or “because of.” It shows that someone or something helped produce a good outcome, and it often carries a feeling of gratitude. It attaches directly to an i-adjective or a plain verb clause, and it follows a noun with の or a na-adjective with な. Although it usually introduces a positive result, it can be used ironically when the result is unfavorable.
Usage note
おかげで generally presents a cause favorably. For an unfavorable cause, せいで is usually more appropriate; for a neutral cause, forms such as ので, から, or ため are more suitable.
