What it means
割に expresses an unexpected comparison between a standard and an actual result. It means “considering,” “for,” or “relatively,” and often suggests that something is more or less than expected based on the information before it. It follows a noun with の, a plain-form verb, an い-adjective, or a な-adjective with な.
Usage note
割に does not simply mean “while.” It usually highlights a surprising or disproportionate result, and the noun and な-adjective patterns require の and な respectively before 割に.
