What it means
ずつ indicates that the same amount is assigned to each person or group, or that an action happens in equal increments. It commonly follows a number with a counter, as in “three each,” and it can also follow quantity adverbs to express gradual change, as in “little by little.” The amount is usually understood to be repeated for every relevant person, group, item, or stage.
Usage note
ずつ normally follows a quantity or quantity expression, not an ordinary noun by itself. Do not confuse it with ごとに, which focuses more directly on repeating an action for each person, time period, or unit.
