What it means
ば forms a conditional meaning “if” or “when.” For verbs, it attaches to the verb’s conditional stem, such as あれ+ば in あれば. For i-adjectives, remove the final い and add ければ. This form is common for stating a condition and its result, especially when the relationship is logical or generally expected. The main clause can be made familiar or polite independently.
Usage note
For nouns and na-adjectives, ならば is a formal or written conditional expression. In ordinary familiar speech, なら is more common, but it is a different form and does not contain ば.
