What it means
ながら connects to the masu-stem of a verb and means that two actions happen at the same time. The action before ながら is usually the background or accompanying action, while the main clause states the more important action. The subject of both actions is normally the same. The main clause can be familiar or polite; ながら itself does not change.
Usage note
Do not attach ながら directly to the dictionary form of a verb. The action before ながら normally has the same subject as the main action, so a different subject can sound unclear.
