What it means
てくれる expresses that someone does something as a favor for the speaker or for someone in the speaker’s group. The person who benefits is usually understood to be the speaker, even when it is not stated. It follows a verb in the て-form and can be changed for tense or polarity. The familiar form is てくれる, while the polite counterpart is てくれます.
Usage note
The subject of てくれる is normally the person who performs the action, not the person who receives the favor. Do not confuse it with てもらう, which presents the situation from the recipient’s viewpoint, or てあげる, which presents it from the giver’s viewpoint.
