What it means
さすが expresses that a result matches what was expected from a person, skill, or situation. It can also show admiration, similar to “As expected!” or “That is just like them.” It commonly appears at the beginning of a sentence or before a noun followed by は. The predicate after it may be familiar or polite depending on the situation.
Usage note
さすがに is a related expression, but it often means “even” or “under the circumstances” and is not always interchangeable with さすが. The noun pattern さすがの + noun is also possible, but it has a more fixed and emphatic form.
