What it means
なる means “to become” and describes a change into a new state, condition, role, or situation. It commonly follows a noun or a na-adjective with に, and an i-adjective changes to its く form before なる. The familiar form is なる, while the polite form is なります. The change may happen naturally or as a result of circumstances.
Usage note
なる is an intransitive verb, so it describes something becoming a certain way rather than someone directly making it that way. For directly making something become a certain state, Japanese often uses する instead.
