What it means
かもしれません expresses uncertainty and means that something might be true or may happen. It shows that the speaker thinks the possibility is real but does not feel certain. It is the polite form and can follow a noun, a na-adjective, an i-adjective, or a verb in its plain form. The familiar counterpart is かもしれない.
Usage note
With nouns and na-adjectives, do not normally insert だ before かもしれない or かもしれません. Use forms such as 学生かもしれません and 静かかもしれません. The ending itself marks the level of politeness, while the word before it remains in plain form.
