What it means
後で means “after doing” or “after something happens.” It is used after a verb in the past form to show that the following action happens later. It can also follow a noun with の to mean “after [that event].” The expression usually presents the first event as completed before the next action.
Usage note
When 後で follows a noun, の is required, as in 授業の後で. Do not confuse it with あとで used by itself to mean “later,” which does not attach directly to a noun or verb in the same way.
