What it means
で follows a noun to mark the place where an action or event occurs, such as a room, school, or city. It can also mark the tool, method, or means used to do something, with meanings such as “by,” “with,” or “in.” The verb or predicate after で can be changed to match the desired level of politeness.
Usage note
Do not normally use で for the place where someone or something simply exists; に is generally used for existence. For example, a place where someone studies takes で, while a place where someone is takes に.
